About Caroline Smith…

In 1995 I was part of the team that built Travelocity.com. Nowadays we take the Internet for granted…purchasing everything from books to airline tickets to cars online without a second thought. Back in 1995 we were just trying to figure out how to keep a person’s information together from screen to screen as he made a purchase. On the day that we launched Travelocity I think that we sold about 100 airline reservations, and today probably that many is sold in less than a second.
In addition to how we purchase goods today, other things have changed in the last 15 years. An example is the field of executive coaching. I had never heard of executive coaching when I was at Travelocity and today there are over 6000 coaches worldwide certified through the International Coaching Federation. My passion is focused on changing the way that people like me with technical backgrounds are trained to become leaders. In 1995 if you were a high-performing programmer, you were promoted to a leadership position and then just expected to know what to do. Well, trust me, they don’t teach leadership skills in typical college curriculums for people in technology, engineering, or construction. That’s why I focus my business on helping executives with technical backgrounds to become better leaders through my skills as an executive coach.
So what differentiates me from other executive coaches?
- I earned a graduate certificate in the Executive and Professional Coaching Program at the University of Texas at Dallas (15 graduate credit hours)
- I am certified with the International Coaching Federation as an Associate Certified Coach. Click here to see why this is important.
- I have a technical background (C.S. degree and 20+ years in I.T.) so I can speak your language
- I am eclectic, fun, and smart (important if you don’t like run-of-the-mill, boring, and not-very-bright)
- I center my coaching around the science of happiness and positive psychology (the study of human flourishing) combined with proven coaching methodologies
